HULLAH today (1 November 2024) announces that his debut EP WAVESTATE is now available for purchase and streaming on all platforms. The EP is composed of three original tracks and three spoken-word soundscapes and follows the release of its lead singles, What if i feel like this my whole life? and Roads, earlier this year. What if I feel like this my whole life? captured the attention and support of BBC Introducing who described the artist as “a future headliner” and introduced the release with a live radio feature of the song.
WAVESTATE draws its title from two key concepts: the fluidity and complexity of feelings and the mental conditions in which its tracks were written. The EP delves deep into the ever-changing nature of daily emotions and the tension between internal chaos and external structures.
HULLAH shares, “WAVESTATE is an exploration of my state of mind in the transitional period between the end of the lockdowns into what felt like a new, exciting but scary world. Despite my internal chaos, I was producing a plethora of new tracks in various forms; some instrumental, some spoken-word, some in genres I had yet explored previously. It felt like my whole life was a collection of these .WAV files on my computer. Music has always been the way I make sense of my emotions and in this EP, I’ve solidified and gathered them into a small tangible collection. I’ve always been drawn to the idea that our emotions are fluid and constantly shifting, fleeting, but in music production, I can capture, frame and display them.”
With a combination of evolving, lush productions and a distinctive vocal delivery, HULLAH guides us through an ever-shifting electro-infused emotional landscape. From the lucid club-inspired beats of Roads, to the introspective spoken-word pieces that invite listeners into his inner world, the EP is a journey of contrast, tension, and release as we move through everyday moments of clarity and confusion.

BIOGRAPHY
HULLAH is a London-based and midlands-born writer-producer and designer creatively driven by a passion for nightlife culture, city-living and stories from the queer community. His personal projects are inspired by artists such as Everything but the Girl, Real Lies, Rahim Redcar (formerly Christine and the Queens) and Pet Shop Boys.
Wrapped in the sonic flavours of electro, 90s dance and synth-pop, HULLAH’s work emulates a nocturnal spirit, and is complemented by themes of alienation, ambition and a sense of dejection. His work, though introspective, reaches outward in its delivery, inviting the listener to join the songwriter on a journey as he navigates his way through the noise and distortion of everyday life in a soundstage that comforts and surprises.
Along with Sicily-born Nicole Bullet, HULLAH is also half of the electro pop duo, Futuretape – a songwriting partnership that explores how millennials navigate the digital world, friendships and internet culture. Their music combines a passion for nostalgia and the future and is characterised by 80’s synth-pop and PC music.
When not writing and producing for himself or for Futuretape, HULLAH writes for and with other artists. HULLAH obtained a BA in Songwriting at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP). He has also produced tracks in collaboration with the Amy Winehouse Foundation and has been involved in running music workshops at Cardboard Citizens, a charity that supports young people experiencing issues with homelessness – an issue he has recently explored in an article he was commissioned to write for the i newspaper.
